Guidance for buyers

  1. Please register with the cashier before the auction starts. You will be given a number which is yours for the duration of the auction. If you wish to bid, indicate by waving to the auctioneer with your buyer number or your catalogue only. Would you please return the card before you leave.
  2. If your wish to leave before the end, please quietly see the cashier and leave your buyer number. Remember a 10 percent buyers premium will be added to your total bill.
  3. Please allow the cashier sufficient time to keep up, by waiting a few minutes after your last successful bid before settling up, and only pay when you are ready to leave with all your goods at once.
  4. Credit and debit cards are now accepted, subject to an administration charge of 2% for credit cards and £1 for debit cards. Cheques are only accepted from registered buyers. A paid receipt must be issued before goods can be released.
  5. All goods purchased must be removed from the hall by 5pm on the day of sale. Local delivery may be arranged at a reasonable rate. Please arrange this with the cashier, prior to bidding.
  6. Important. Swale Auctions take no responsibility for incorrect bids. On the fall of the hammer, ownership of, and responsibility for the lot Transfers to the buyer. Please make sure you are bidding on the correct lot, as no refunds will be given.
  7. Important. All goods are sold as seen by the auctioneer as Agent only. Swale Auctions take no responsibility for condition or worthiness of lots. No guarantees or warranties of any kind are provided. Therefore please inspect the lots carefully before bidding as no refunds will be given.

General Conditions for Sellers

  1. Commission is charged at 15 percent of the sale price. There is a minimum commission charge of £1.00 per lot.
  2. All unsold items are subject to a £1 entry fee.
  3. Entry is usually limited to a maximum 15 lots per person.
  4. Reserves are accepted, but not for less than £10.
  5. Unless by specific agreement with the Auctioneer, all monies owing will be paid by cheque to the sellers given address. We will endeavour to do this within seven days of the sale.
  6. Any unsold item must be removed from the hall by 5pm on the day of the sale.
  7. Unless by specific prior arrangement, any items left in the hall at 5pm on the day of the sale they will be disposed of.
